Convention Center Lansing, Michigan The
Lansing Convention Center, located on the banks of the Grand River, was
completed in three phases, the first of which was a masterplanning and
programming effort that paired the experience of Hobbs + Black Architects
and Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum (HOK). Hobbs + Black Architects
was solely responsible for Phase II, a complete renovation and retrofit
of existing 120,000 square feet of meeting rooms and exhibit space and
Phase III, a 150,000 square foot addition including conference facilities,
meeting rooms, banquet facilities, audio/visual services, a full service
kitchen, a restaurant and lounge and a 500 car underground parking deck. The
project, which includes a bridge connecting the convention center to a
major downtown hotel, provides opportunities for balconies, plazas and
walks overlooking the river. The new convention center provides a
positive and progressive gateway to the city of Lansing.
