NorthRidge Church
Plymouth Township, Michigan

Throughout the 1980's a prolific ministry at NorthRidge Church and a steady increase in membership began to exceed the capacity of the historical worship center on Telegraph Road. After searching for a place with greater visibility and space to grow, a 55-acre pasture in Plymouth Township, Michigan was selected and a phased Master Plan program began.

The 75,000 square foot Phase One program included a 2500 seat auditorium, meeting rooms, classrooms, administrative offices, a nursery, commercial food service and associated support space. The fan shaped auditorium has a sloped floor allowing unobstructed views of the chancel stage area. Two large video screens flank the stage providing opportunities for supporting scriptures and images.

The stage includes a recessed baptistery, unitized floor panels, fly space with backdrops, catwalk and theatrical lighting. Three optional audio control positions support stage activity and a large state-of-the-art video control center is located on the second floor balcony. The advanced and adaptable audio/video system facilitates the presentation of church services as well as outside concerts interfacing with existing control systems.

Phase Two proposed a mix of existing ministry expansion and new amenities totaling 42,000 square feet. Expanded programs included the classrooms, nursery and kitchen. New program space expanded the Church entry into a two-story atrium and added a 300-seat chapel, a café and 42-foot high multi-purpose meeting/recreation space.

As the requirement for parking spaces exceeded those associated with auditorium seat counts, Phase Two also included the construction of the balance of Master Planned parking areas.

Future phases are already in consideration as this progressive Church continues to move forward. As outlined by the Master Plan model, the completed center will provide expansive community places for worship, education, fellowship and recreation.
