Hobbs+Black Architects starts strong for 2018 with the promotion of eight key employees


ANN ARBOR, MI, January 5, 2018 - Hobbs+Black Architects is proud to announce the promotions of the following individuals:

Robert (Bob) A. Hoida, AIA, NCARB to Vice President (Ann Arbor)
Bob is a key member of the Retail Team at Hobbs+Black. He provides oversight and collaboration for projects and takes on the role of project manager for certain commissions. For the much of his 30+ years in the industry, Bob has served as a member of a staff of developers. This background, unique to an architecture firm, provides a fresh insight because Bob understands the needs and challenges of our clients in retail developments. Additionally, Bob has taken initiative in expanding the Hobbs+Black presence in the greater Detroit area. He has managed key projects such as the Michigan State Fair Grounds, the William G. Milliken State Park and Outdoor Adventure Center, and Ally Detroit Center. Bob currently serves as the Secretary of the AIA Michigan Board and has served as president of the AIA Detroit Chapter in the past.

Dennis P. McGowan to Vice President (Ann Arbor)
Dennis has been with Hobbs+Black for nearly 19 years and has over 30 years of experience in the industry. His responsibilities include managing contract documents, project administration, shop drawing review, construction administration, and field review. He has the proven ability to organize effectively in order to complete project in an efficient manner.

John D. Mortimore to Senior Associate (Lansing)
John is well-versed in the technical aspects of the construction industry. With more than 32 years of production experience, he is responsible for scheduling and overseeing construction document developments within the firm. His wide range of experience includes staff management, supervision and training, and coordination of mechanical and electrical consultant documents with architectural documents.

Jonathan (Jon) Pearn to Senior Associate (Ann Arbor)
Jon has been at Hobbs+Black over six years, in that time he has quickly moved through the ranks and proven himself to be a key team player. Jon helps to coordinate various disciplines in design, as well as the bidding and negotiation process and close-out documentation. With a strong background in AutoCAD, his primary responsibilities lie in CAD coordination between team members as well as consulting disciplines.

Ryan Wrigley to Director of Interior Design (Ann Arbor)As the Director of Interior Design, Ryan Wrigley works with our team and the client to create a unique, thoughtful space. She is committed to creating environments that engage users, foster collaboration, and achieve the goals of the organization. She understands the importance of listening and working closely with her clients to design spaces that reflect the program and culture for each individual client. With over 17 years experience, she has expertise in a variety of project types from workplace, retail, healthcare, and education design.

Hobbs+Black is also pleased to announce the promotions of Kevin Short, Keith Byron, and Diane McIntyre in the Ann Arbor office to Associate.
