University Commons, located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is a new residential development designed specifically for University of Michigan alumni, staff, and faculty over 50 years of age. University Commons was conceived as a place that would foster resident’s intellectual, cultural, and social interests. UCA plans extensive academic, cultural and social programming within the classrooms and meeting spaces of the Commons. Building and adjoining areas. UCA also plans considerable formal and informal group interaction among residents that will take advantage of the collective wisdom and energy of its membership, allowing valuable interaction with and among the Ann Arbor and University communities at large. Two mid-rise buildings, consisting of 60 luxury units, flank a common building which overlooks a forest. The common building serves as a community center with a dining room, meeting, social, and music rooms, as well as hotel suites for guests. 32 “villa” homes are set in small clusters, or villages, surrounding the three main buildings on this rolling 15-acre site, enclosed by hardwood forests and natural wetlands. The homes are constructed of masonry and wood and range in size from 1,100 to 1,900 square feet. All units have underground parking. Additional amenities include gardening areas, tennis facilities, and walking trails    around lakes.
