Bitty and Beau’s Coffee Shop
Ann Arbor, Michigan
Bitty & Beau’s Coffee owns its namesake to siblings born with Down Syndrome, Bitty and Beau Wright.
Over 80% of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are unemployed. The Wright’s created the first shop for their family to have a place to work where people with disabilities would be valued and accepted.
Hobbs+Black was happily contacted by franchisee KC Maddelein looking to bring the Bitty & Beau’s experience to Ann Arbor. Design process through final construction, the B&B team worked with both KC and Ben/Amy Wright to meet a challenging schedule and build requirements. The map wall is a feature that lives at all franchises to indicate the spread of Bitty & Beau’s positive influence.
