Meet Lucas Arbrouet
For Lucas Arbrouet, architecture is about more than designing buildings, it’s about understanding how the spaces around us shape the way we feel and behave.
After earning his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Lawrence Technological University (LTU), Lucas is taking the next step in his career with H+B as an Architectural Technician 1. His interest in the field grew from seeing firsthand the impact the built environment can have on people.
“Seeing firsthand how a building can influence a person’s mood and behavior” is what inspired Lucas to pursue architecture, and it’s a perspective he’ll continue to bring to his work as he develops his skills.
From the Classroom to H+B
One of Lucas’s biggest learning experiences at H+B has been adjusting to the pace and variety of professional practice. In school, architecture students can spend an entire semester focused on a single project. At work, he’s learned how to transition between different projects, priorities and challenges.
That change has helped Lucas experience a different side of architecture while learning how to adapt his skills from one project to the next.
One project that stands out from his time as an intern is FedUp Ministries, which he worked on alongside other interns.
“We had such a fun and creative group this year,” Lucas said.
The experience gave the team an opportunity to collaborate, exchange ideas and put their creativity into practice.
Finding His Place
When it came time to decide what was next, Lucas found plenty of reasons to continue his career with H+B—but one stood above the rest: the people.
“The culture and vibes, honestly,” Lucas said. “I just felt super welcomed from everyone.”
That sense of belonging helped turn his internship experience into the beginning of the next stage of his career. As Lucas moves into his Architectural Technician 1 role, his goal for the rest of the year is to continue strengthening his skills and discovering where he fits within the broader field of architecture.
Outside the office, Lucas keeps things relaxed. He enjoys listening to and playing music—and, in his words, being a “couch potato” when it’s time to unwind.
As he makes the transition from architecture student and intern to full-time team member, Lucas is looking forward to continuing to learn, grow and find his place in the profession.
Welcome to the next chapter at H+B, Lucas!
