By Nicholas Scarpone, AIA, NCARB, CSI - Vice President, Hobbs+Black Architects

Hobbs+Black was happy to take part in the grand opening celebration by the Ingham County Board of Commissioners, Ingham County Building Authority, and the Ingham County Animal Control Team. The new 16,000-square-foot facility was programmed by Animal Arts, designed by Hobbs+Black, and constructed by Granger Construction with funds passed by Ingham County constituents in 2016.

The state-of-the-art facility boasts a full operatory suite, digital X-ray, community room, interior-exterior kennels, and a β€œcat-io.” The facility focuses on adoption, with flexible features to house over 100 cats and 85 dogs, substantially more capacity than the old building. As a highlight to the opening for the benefit, Ingham County Animal Control staff provided a 24-hour, round-the-clock adoption effort.
